Missing Keys.plist data for this build Redsnow iOS 6.0.1 FIX Tutorial

Advertisements

Missing Keys.plist data for this build is a common jailbreak error when using Redsnow to do tethered jailbreak on iOS 6.0.1 for devices like iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G. The solution for this issue quite simple, if you just understand what the problem is and how to fix it.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6.1 has been released for all iOS devices including, all iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch. No more “Missing Keys.plist data for this build” error. To learn more about the new untetehered jailbreak for iOS 6.1 please use the following link: Cydia Download.

Why I’m i getting “Missing Keys.plist data for this build”?

Currently Redsnow does not support iOS 6.0.1 in a direct approach, it only supports iOS 6.0. But since most of iOS devices now are running iOS 6.0.1, a creative method was introduced to enable iPhone 4/3GS & iPod Touch 4G users to jailbreak their device that is running iOS 6.0.1 using Redsnow.

This method is done by tricking Redsnow into thinking that your iOS device is running iOS 6.0 while its actually running iOS 6.0.1 and thats why in the jailbreak tutorial we ask you to download iOS 6.0 (NOT 6.0.1) although your device is currently running iOS 6.0.1. (i know its a bit confusing, just get the overall idea don’t read too much into it).

So since now we know that the current Redsnow does not support iOS 6.0.1, if you use iOS 6.0.1 with Redsnow to jailbreak your device that is running 6.0.1, Redsnow will give you the following error: Missing Keys.plist data for this build and sometimes the error will keep coming up even after you realize your mistake and start using iOS 6.0 instead. But for every problem there is a solution.Missing Keys.plist data for this build

How to Fix Missing Keys.plist data for this build error?

  • STEP1: Download iOS 6.0 for your device from the links below:
  • STEP2: Exit out of Redsn0w completely if you have it open.
  • STEP3: Connect your iOS device to the computer.
  • STEP4: Put your iOS device in DFU Mode << click here to learn how. (Do NOT open Redsn0w yet)
  • STEP5: Now go to Redsnow and follow the steps below according to your computer operating system:
    • For Windows Computers:
      • Navigate to your Redsn0w.exe file and right click on it and the select Properties.
      • On top Click on Compatibility.
      • Go to Compatibility mode and Check Run this program in compatibility mode for.
      • Select Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
      • Then go down to Privilege Level, and make sure that Run this program as administrator is checked.
      • Click OK.
      • Now Launch your jailbreak software and everything should work just fine.Stuck on Uploading Ramdisk
    • For Mac (use Ctrl-Click->Open if on Mountain Lion)
  • STEP6: Once Redsnow is launched goto Extras>Select IPSW and then select iOS 6.0 for your device (the one you downloaded in STEP1). Here is how the name of the iOS firmware should look like:
    • For iPhone 4 (GSM) >> iPhone3,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw
    • For iPhone 4 (CDMA) >> iPhone3,3_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw
    • For iPhone 3GS >> iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw
    • For iPod Touch 4G >> iPod4,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipswMissing Keys.plist data for this build
  • STEP7: After that go back, Jailbreak and install Cydia and then once the jailbreak is done and your iOS device is booted on, turn off your iOS device.
  • STEP8: Exit out of Redsn0w completely if you still have it open.
  • STEP9: Disconnect your device from the computer and connect it back in, then Put it in DFU mode, and Lanuch Rednsow again (same way as STEP6).
  • STEP10: Once Redsn0w is launched goto Extras>Select IPSW select the iOS 6.0 file again. Then Click Extras>Just Boot.

Please remembers that since this is a tethered jailbreak, so every time you reboot your iOS device, you will need to redo STEP8 – STEP10 again.

The above tutorial was created after many, many tests and it will fix Missing Keys.plist data for this build error in 99% of the cases, so if you followed the tutorial above and you are still getting the error, most likely you are doing something wrong and you need to read the instructions above again and follow it verbatim. If you are sure that you have then you might want to try one of the following items that may cause Missing Keys.plist data for this build error to keep coming up:

  • Try a different computer.
  • Try to use a different USB slot in your computer when connecting your device.
  • Try different Cable when connecting your device to the computer.
  • Disable Firewall on your computer.
  • Uninstall any Antivirus on your computer that might be blocking Redsnow from communicating with the server.
  • Delete Redsn0w, delete the IPSW (iOS 6.0), go have some coffee, then come back and start fresh from scratch.

Do I use this for an IPhone 4 CDMA? I got past that step and I’m hung at waiting for reboot. Thank you for all your help! This is my 17 year old nephews phone, he was killed in a head on collision Thursday. We are trying to recover some things off his phone.

Hi Adam, Thank you for this great tutorial. Thanks to you my iPhone 4 is now jailbreaked. Which is no small achievement! I spent a lot of money on many sites which never worked since their instructions isn’t aimed at people like me who have no knowledge of software or firmware or any ware other that underwear I guess!! lol
Just one question…Cydia is still not on the phone, so I assume I can’t unlock it now? If that is the case, do you perhaps have a tutorial on how to get Cydia on? (I did select the option to load Cydia in Redsn0w).
Thank you again for such great work!!! x

  9. Angelo says:

    It works
let me now know how to unlock it, in order to use with the operator here in my country. the phone is saying “no service” should have be “UNITEL”.

    Thanks

  12. lb says:

Still i am receiving an unsupported Error with the downloaded ipsw file for ipod 4 6.0 file, using redsnow 0.9.15b3.

  13. Adi says:

I got iPhone 4 (GSM) from my friend in a dead condition. The screen comes up with a apple logo then goes blank and this keeps on happening in a loop. This activity only takes place with the USB cable connected between the phone and PC. In the last few days I’ve tried so many different things and now I wonder that the phone might have completely f?*%$ed up. Below is the list of things I have tried so far.

First of all just to let you know that neither I or my friend has got SHSH blobs saved for this device, hence I don’t have them. Here’s what I have done:

    1. Used “redsn0w 0.9.15b3″ and followed all the directions as per your post. Though I have already used this before coming to your website. (First I was getting the error about “Missing keys.plist for this build” and then I got “Exploit Failed” error) I did exactly as you suggested but no luck.

    2. redsn0w gives an “Error with SHSH blobs!” when I try to fetch SHSH blobs for this device. And in this error window on top it says “USB communication error”. I am 100% sure there is nothing wrong with data cable because I have used 3 original apple cables and 3 different PC’s.

    3. Within redsn0w I selected custom firmware “iPhone3,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw” and tried to jailbreak. It says that it has installed the ios and the balance part of the process will be done on device itself and then it says that the phone has to be rebooted using the Reboot option in redsn0w. Unfortunately this didn’t work either.

    4. I tried “iREB-r6″ to restore the phone via iTunes but there too I get random error either 1602 or 3194.

    5. Then I tried “TinyUmbrella v6.10.03″. With the TSS server on I again launched iTunes and got either of the errors i.e. 3194 or 1602. The only difference in TinyUmbrella I noticed is the detailed information gathered while iTune was trying to restore the phone. The message is below:

    deleted

This message doesn’t make much sense to me but hopefully you may be able to figure what’s going on.

As far as the causes of the error messages is concerned then I am sure that there isn’t any firewall issue. Port 80 isn’t blocked neither any apple application is restricted.

Sorry to be a pest over here for such a long message. I would really appreciate if you advice or suggest any remedy for the problem described above.

    • Adam Daieh says:

The answer for this question is simple, update your device to the latest iOS version through iTunes 6.1.2 then use the latest jailbreak software to jailbreak it. Which we have in our members zone, or you can search for it online. Redsnow does not work anymore.

      • Adi says:

Sorry Adam, I forgot to mention that when I try to restore the phone via iTunes first it extracts the software, verify it with Apple store and then it tries to “prepare the phone for restore” but after few minutes it throws up the error saying “this phone cannot be restored” with a code. Which is either 1602 or 3194. My Windows hosts file has got “74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com” entry and Port 80 is also unblocked. I have tried this process on 3 different computers, 2 PC’s having Windows 7 Professional and 1 running Windows XP Pro but no luck so far.

        • Adam Daieh says:

try to update instead of restoring, or if you have in fact updated your device to iOS 6.1.2 then restore to the same iOS that was downloaded by iTunes which should be somewhere in your computer.

  14. Adi says:

Adam, this is the first thing I tried initially i.e. connected the phone to iTunes and tried to Restore to the latest version of iOS but in the end it gave an error. It was either 1602 or 3194.

  15. Jake alimurong says:

hi adam, this tutorial works for me but after jailbreak it has no service. Im from the philippines the iphone has no signal or service please advice what to do. My unit is iphone 3gs.

    thanks,
    Jake

  16. rosemarie says:

I have window vista and went to click on compatibaility mode there was not an option for that. I wonder if that is why I’m getting that “missing keys, plist data for build” error? I have an IPOD 4G. Completed all of the steps you gave on your site but still getting error

  17. Andrew says:

Thank you so much! Exactly what I wanted.. Step by Step instruction! After hours of reviewing YT film, forums , I came across your site and it works!! Keep up the good work.

  18. Veesh says:

This post fixed any and all of my problems jailbreaking 6.1.2 as my first jailbreak. I was stuck for days trying everything possible, it all came down to the shutdown/restart process – it was thoroughly confusing for me because until recently, I learned to use firefox. Now i’m on a mission to find out as to what exactly jailbreaking is and everything it can do!!! ….. USE THIS SITE IF YOU’RE HAVING .PLIST PROBLEMS!! =D

  19. anjan says:

  24. Alive, Kicking. says:

    Adam: You. Saved. Me.
I upgraded to 6.1.3 after reading that a JB was out but it did not work, and read the next morning (after fighting with it till 2 am) that the JB was a bust. So, I’m tethered for now, which is weird, but at least I’m functional and JB.
Thanks so much and sorry if some people sometime seem overly demanding or unappreciative.

  25. Srinivasan says:

It worked like a Charm! Fantastic! Thank you…

  26. Niamh says:

theres no compatibility mode for me! windows 7, the phone failed to update to the latest firmware (ios 6.1.3 i think) because it was jailbroken in a previous life so thats what im doing here! a few people said they found it eventually, do you know how?

  27. Niamh says:

ive an iphone 3gs (computer’s windows 7if iit matters), trying to put on ios 6.0…the phone failed to update to the latest firmware (ios 6.1.3 i think) because it was jailbroken in a previous life so thats what im doing here! Hi bro, please help me out:I have iphone 3gs i updated him to 6.1.3 from 5.1.1 jaibraked and my phone lock for carrier, no problem i jaibrake him with redsnow 0.15b3 (i have old botrom, my phone is from 2009,37 week) but after jailbreak and even bot tethered i still dont have cydia on my phone and yes i clicked to instal cydia in red snow while jailbreaking so please mate, give me some solution if you can ! :) :)

    • Adam Daieh says:

Currently the only available jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 3GS is tethered jailbreak, so you just need to boot into tethered mode, after you jailbreak your device, and you will need to redo this step every time you reboot your device.

  32. Jhonny says:

Hi man, it’s not working…getting error, it says : “you have to try again”, i’ve tried for more than 10 times like you said but always getting error..what shoul i do now. Help me please

  48. Brandon. says:

Pineapple shows up when rebooting, so I was physched, then, Cydia doesn’t appear. What gives?

    • Adam Daieh says:

most likley its because of the tethered jailbreak which means that you need to boot into tethered mode every time you reboot your device.
